About CP Planning

CP Planning is a non-profit urban planning organization practicing a human rights approach to community planning. Our mission is to align for public, non-profit, and private sector organizations within the land use development industry to invest in solutions that uphold the economic, social, and cultural rights of marginalized people to have access to good housing, good jobs, an adequate standard of living, and opportunities for cultural expression.

Senior Strategist

Opportunity

Application due date:  Accepted on ongoing basis until position filled 

Start date: Flexible

Compensation: $70,000 - $95,000  - Compensation based on qualifications. 

Reports to: Executive Director

Commitment: 35 hours/week

The CP Planning team is seeking a detail oriented and creative problem-solver to join in the role of Senior Strategist. The ideal candidate has experience designing and innovating within ongoing and dynamic program strategies within small to medium sized organizations, enjoys managing multiple projects, and has demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

The Senior Strategist will work closely with the CP Planning team to implement the Roadmap for Redevelopment Plans to Confront Systemic Racism (Roadmap).

Location

The ideal candidate lives in Toronto or Peel, or is able to commute to Toronto on a regular basis. This is a hybrid position, with the coordinator expected to attend in person meetings or events at least twice a week. As CP Planning collaborates with vulnerable communities, the ideal candidate must have direct experience conducting community engaged work and contributing to social justice.

Responsibilities

Administration

  • Support the development and implementation of projects, including project team planning, management, and coordination to ensure delivery of projects, communications strategies, and achievement of KPIs within prescribed timelines and allocated budget.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Leadership team to evaluate, resolve, and mitigate impact of project challenges, concerns, or risks .
  • Ensure quality output through the oversight of project plans, report writing, online media, and other communications.


People and Culture

  • Identify and implement strategies to develop and maintain partnerships with private, charitable/non-profit, and public sector organizations and leaders with whom there is alignment with CP Planning’s mission.
  • Help develop and implement systems of the identification, recruitment, ongoing relationship management with vendors, partners (private, non-profit, and public sector organizations), job candidates, donors, and clients.
  • Conduct assessments and prepare strategies for generating and evaluating progress on the capacity and effectiveness of industry capacity  contribute to the achievement organizational objectives.

Qualifications

Required

  • College or Undergraduate at Certificate or Degree
  • Positive attitude, team player
  • Six or more years of proven success in a project management or operations management role
  • Five years of experience working in non-profits or as a board member of a medium sized non-profit
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational/resource development, personnel management, and financial/budget administration
  • Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and leadership skills as to effectively engage with coworkers, prospects, and partners
  • Good decision-making skills and dependable response to high-pressure situations
  • Working knowledge of office and project management software programs, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, MicrosoftPlanner, Microsoft SharePoint, and related software
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice, anti-racism, and anti-oppression via experience in community organizing or capacity building with racialized communities
  • Be flexible to work remotely or in person, as needed


Desired

  • Familiarity with applicable federal and provincial non-profit regulations and processes
  • Familiarity with urban planning, city building, and or affordable housing topics
  • Working knowledge of finance management software programs, including Quickbooks, Dext, Plooto, and related software
