 Theme: Introduction to the Roadmap, Development Processes, Policies  

Description/Purpose:  

During this workshop, participants will not only gain an understanding of the workshop series but will also be introduced to the comprehensive roadmap for redevelopment. Participants will immerse themselves in the intricacies of the Ontario landscape for affordable housing development. They will explore the specific development processes and policies that shape the affordable housing sector, gaining a deep understanding of how these factors influence their work and community initiatives.  

 Themes: Types of Affordable Housing Initiatives, Successful Case Studies   

Description/Purpose:   

This workshop will focus on empowering participants with the skills to identify key champions, influential councillors, and developers who support affordable housing initiatives in their neighborhoods. Participants will also learn to recognize other stakeholders and explore the relationships between politicians and entities financing major development projects. Additionally, the workshop will provide insights into understanding local governance and the crucial role developers play in housing provision, as well as policies shaping major stakeholder involvement in project development.

This workshop will equip participants with practical strategies for identifying and building meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials and developers. Through hands-on exercises and real-world scenarios, attendees will develop essential skills for effective stakeholder engagement within the context of affordable housing projects.  

 Themes: Planning Communication with Stakeholders, Maximizing Impact on Stakeholders

Participants will focus on honing their communication abilities during this workshop, learning how to create tailored and effective communication plans for engaging with key stakeholders. They will gain insights into crafting persuasive messages and strategies to maximize impact in their interactions.

In the final workshop, participants will explore the critical aspect of accountability in the context of affordable housing initiatives. They will delve into practical methods and best practices for ensuring that key stakeholders remain committed and follow through on their commitments, ensuring the success of community-driven housing efforts.
